This home design was based on the historic Hermann-Grima House in the Vieux Carre designed by architect William Brand. Originally built for Samuel Hermann, the property was purchased in 1844 by local judge and civic leader Felix Grima, whose descendents stayed until 1921. The building was styled during construction to reflect local influences, such as adding the front and rear balconies which are not part of the formal Federal Style. Details include the symmetrical facade, double-hung windows and white granite lintels above the windows. There was also a rear courtyard garden with outdoor kitchen and stable area.
